Dieter took us into the City
and allowed us two hours to do final shopping,
before showing us the sights. There were no
takers at the hair salon, but everyone was in
awe at the construction of the Presidents new
home.
We saw the Desert Express in the Windhoek
Station, prior to its departure for Swakopmund.
This legendary train offers excellent
accommodation and service.
We were soon back at the airport, unloading our
cases and heading for the check-in counters. The
mood was somber, definitely not the same as when
we arrived. All good things eventually must come
to an end and we need to get back to reality.
As the time of departure approached we were
advised of delays in both the Cape Town and
Johannesburg bound flights. Apparently this is a
common Friday evening problem as an inbound
flight is always late and has passengers
connecting to these two flights.
The Cape Town flight was called first and we
said our "good-byes" to the Smiths who were
Johannesburg bound.
Our shuttle awaited our arrival and after doing
the rounds to drop everyone at their respective
homes, deposited the Coombes's at around
11.15pm. I am sure Linda was happier that she
arranged her own transport rather than having to
wait until last.
Thank you one
and all for making this trip such a special one.
To the more "mature" travelers, we
salute your for your sustainability, for your
enthusiasm and disposition. Brian had a comment
from two German tourists when he reached the top
of Big Mama: "I hope we are as fit
as you when we reach your age". I can echo this
sentiment for those in our group. Well
done. |
