DAY 4:
Same again...5.30
am wake-up call. A quick piece of toast,
coffee and maybe yoghurt and you are raring to
go on the early morning game drive
On this, our last morning, we went in
search of the buffalo. To get to them we
went down White Knuckle Hill
and wow it was like
being on a roller coaster. We never saw
the buffalo but as we came up the hill Werner
decided it was time to stop, and shortly we were joined by
the other ladies and they put out coffee, rusks
and homemade biscuits - a real Out of Africa
experience.
We also saw Gaaitjie - the rogue elephant!
It was early morning and he was more intent on
getting his breakfast and never looked our way!
ingrid adjusts her beret, whilst Ann and Heather
are happy to stretch their legs after being on
the land drover for over 2 hours.
Werner was a host extraordinaire - out came the
flask of coffee, rusks and biscuits. What
a treat to have this time to stop and chat to
other ladies about their game viewing.
Heather and Alice agree "Life doesn't get better
than this" - and sincere thanks to
Emma and Werner our two game
rangers who with their expertise made our stay
at Lalibela something so special. We will
remember it for a long time.
Back to Marks Camp - time for brunch and
a quick 'spruce-up' before it was time
to bid farewell to Lalibela. We
had to wait for our transport, but the
Marimba players were, once again, there
to entertain us. Time flies when
you are having fun - their rhythm is
infectious!
The staff from Lalibela who perform the
music do a sterling job of entertaining
people - so much so that Alice could not
resist getting up and dancing! (until she
realised that she was being filmed!)
Relaxed but not ready to go home. Can't
we stay another day?
1Time Airlines got us safely back to
Cape Town and it was a weary and happy
group that stood at the carousel to get
their luggage. They always say, in life
- "No-one can take your memories away"
and this tour proved, without a doubt,
how very true this is Comments
like - "Hey
Carol - a very special time in the bush
- one of your best tours"
to "The
peace and quiet was really soul
restoring and something we all needed"
