After breakfast at
Die Herberg it was "all systems
go" again, with Denis adding his expertise.
Elaine who had previously worked with
pastels was very competent at her art
despite the fact that she had broken her
ankle and was on crutches. At the end
of the sessions we all believed her work was
the best! Denis was such a patient
teacher - never criticizing us and always
offering praise! |
|
|
The happy smiling face said it all for
Mel - whilse Ruth was so deep in
concentration that she never even looked
up at the camera! |
|
The second session ended far too quickly, but
showed that there was definite progress with our
work. In order from Left to Right are the
following masterpieces - Dawn/Elaine/Ruth -
watch out Picasso! |
|
|
In between the art sessions there was still time
to do a bit of shopping and Gillie and Mel are
seen in Wille Magrietjie. This store is a
treasure trove of goods - you can't 'resist'
taking your purse out of your bag. |
|
|
We managed to find a unique place to have coffee
- Die Vishuis Restaurant in Velddrift.
It was a welcome stop after the drive and
exploring in the area! |
|
|
A typical west coast view; rickety boat landing
with the inevitable small fishing boat. These
guys must really smell good when they get home
after working with fish all day. (Bokkoms -
dried fish) |
|
|
Then it was time to dress up for dinner in
Paternoster at the swank
Abalone Boutique Guest House. |
|
|
There was a special atmosphere in their bar and
very soon everyone relaxed and looked forward to
the evening ahead. |
|
|
They had set the table so splendidly for us -
and when Darren their chef had no objection to
us coming to meet him in the kitchen, we were
all thrilled. "The Duchess" as he is known
at Abalone is such a friendly, welcoming person. |
