A famous land-mark in
Stellenbosch is
Oom Samie se Winkel,
and Brenda, Jenny and Di
pause to chat to the
fellow on the bench!
However, he took little
interest in them! |
|
|
|
The
Wild Peacock Food
Emporium
was also a popular stop
for the ladies and Erika
and Jenny found the time
to enjoy tea and a chat! |
|
|
Sally told Di of the
wonderful bakery her and
her husband had found
and Di, Jenny and Brenda
were very pleased with
this 'find" |
|
|
Oom Samie se Winkel is
very popular with the
tourists and considering
the stock they keep one
can understand why!
There are wonderful
jams; spices; wine from
the popular estates; and
trinkets to take home.
"Peace at last, now that
the three women have
stopped nattering and
left me alone". |
|
|
The
Towerbosch
restaurant on the
Knorhoek Estate was our
venue for lunch.
Their restaurant has
been decorated with
hanging crockery and
cutlery and has a
wonderful ambience. |
|
Everyone enjoyed their
lunch and asked for the
chef to come out so they
could personally thank
him. |
|
|
Towerbosch served our group a "Table feast".............Lamb knuckle pie, Haddock au gratin; lovely miniature vegetables and salad. Everyone was impressed. |
|
|
The decor in the restaurant has a fabulous touch to it - even the humble pumpkin takes on a whole new meaning when set out on the entrance table! |
When the waitress asked if I wanted my lamb
knuckle pie
cut into four or eight slices,
I said,
'Four. I don’t think I can eat eight.
