OLIVE
FESTIVAL
1st
May 2010 |
|
Saturday 1st May saw us
heading for
Riebeek Kesteel for their
10th annual Olive Festival - this being the
5th one that Traveltime has arranged.
Everyone on the coach was in a festive mood
ready to celebrate the day out.
Temperatures soared - wow where is autumn? |
|
|
Everyone got off the coach at
Kloovenburg
which was about 2km from
the town centre. Two pretty young girls
promoting olives at Kloovenburg.
Wine tasting at 10.45 on a
Saturday morning - life is good!
|
|
Brigitte and Margaret were so very
pleased with their delicious bread
purchased and the mussels and brown
bread provided the ideal fill-me-up so
early in the morning.
Where should we go next - Jenny,
Caroline and Denise are saying! |
|
|
Alice and Anne checked the map and were 'raring
to go' on to Riebeek West. Marie chats to Ronnie
in the cellar at Kloovenberg and seems to be
asking "how do you like my new ear rings?" |
|
Be careful now how you handle the little
puppy was the advice given to this
little cutie! It was then time to move on and
Ronnie was spotted taking a breather on the long
walk up the hill. Heather and Marie look
back to gauge the distance they've climbed.
|
|
|
Cafe Felix - a wonderful oasis
- time to sit, rest and enjoy a super Mediterranean lunch. Theresa looked
the part completely, even if her panama hat cost her an arm & leg! |
|
|
The music provided was so soothing - can't say
the same for the desserts - 'hang it on
the hips' sort of stuff. Chocolate
mousse, rice pudding and lemon tart - absolutely
delicious. |
|
|
This attractive lady was making a delicious
hungarian type 'pizza' - Flamkuchen -
very thin base with créme
fraiche, spicy sausage, spring onions and baked
in a very hot oven. What a treat.
The right hand photo proves that the Panama hat
salesman did brisk trade today!!
A festive day enjoyed by
many in perfect weather. |
