Kommetjie & Truffles

Our day to Kommetjie started off in overcast conditions.  By the time we reached Long Beach it was cool but the pier overlooking the beach was a meeting place for the ladies.  Many people were very sombre about the sea and the dreadful shark attack that had taken place the day before.  Gazing at the sea after such a tragedy makes one really think - "How small man is - and how powerful the sea creatures are!"

A few of us took off on a walk and Erika came back with two awesome finds for her home!  A 'blommie' and a piece of driftwood.

Next stop was the Imhoff Farm in Kommetjie.  Everyone poured into the deli and the other shops.  Unfortunately, because we were there before 12h00 the camel rides were not available. Sorry Hilda!

The Blue Water Cafe overlooks a small lake - unfortunately, we were told our group was too big for this restaurant.

Another restaurant in the Imhoff area is the Pickled Fish.  With a menu of predominately fish it is somewhat limited with choice for non fish-eaters and we decided on Cafe Roux in Noordhoek.

Compass Bakery (The factory outlet for Woolworths) had everyone dashing in, by now a light drizzle.  Tuesdays and Thursdays pensioners get a 10% discount and this made everyone extremely happy!

The Noordhoek Farm Village was our next stop, with Cafe Roux being our destination.

Very special friendships are being formed within the club and this happy group is testament to this! Belinda displayed and sold her delicious truffles - coffee; ginger; peanut butter; amarula - WOW what flavours!

Mary Honeybun came to visit us as she lives very close to the Noordhoek Village. What a treat it was for everyone to catch up with her.

This Protea bush near the car park had everyone taking out their cameras.  Here Mary is saying 'good-bye' to all her friends, and will shortly go home, to once again, sort out her pet project - the collection of bread tags.  She is doing amazing work - recycling the bread tags and the money she receives from the sale goes to purchasing wheel chairs.  Well done Mary, we are all SO proud of you!
