On entering Napier we were greeted by
numerous scarecrows in various poses.

Residents get into the festival mood by erecting
scarecrows
in front of their establishments
We stopped only briefly in
Napier to have
a comfort break at the Moerse Farm Stall where
for many of us it was a 'first' to have to pay
to use a toilet! After this we moved on to Bredasdorp for a bit of retail therapy at Kapula
Candles before having a light lunch on the
square.
Bredasdorp Square is a quaint eatery /
gift shop offering excellent meals and
quality products. This exclusive store
could easily compete with any store in
Sandton! "Looking good ladies" -
the two city chicks in Bredasdorp!
We decided on soup and toasted
sandwiches for lunch, which were nothing short of
exceptional. A good start to our weekend
away.
Then it was back to Napier to check in
to our accommodation for the next two
nights: Alletta's Kuierhuis and Peace
Valley Guest House. Both accredited 4*
guest houses, boasting great
accommodation and surroundings.
A few of us went off to the art
exhibition in the afternoon.
Organizers of the festival had thought
of everything to keep people in Napier
for the weekend. This scarecrow
was outside Pascal's
Country Kitchen, with
their 'cat' seen sitting on the front of
the witches'
broom.
One of the local residents in
Napier entertained the art
lovers with trumpet & violin
music whilst they admired the
art and, of course, had a glass
of local wine to taste as well.
Outside the Napier "All
Sorts" Shoppe - which
has a marvelous
collection of clothing &
jewellery and hand made
chess pieces.
Carol decided to snuggle
up to this scarecrow
(seems like he was
trying to 'slip away').
Just outside Napier is
Dave's
Country Kitchen which
comprises a quaint restaurant/ a
vintage shop where everything
from yesteryear can be found/
and a nursery. Dave the
chef is ex "some of the top
restaurants in Cape Town"
(On-the-Rocks being one) and his
food is superb. Comforting
ox tail was a popular choice.
Annette, Dave and Brian at Dave's
Country Kitchen - Brian's jacket
reflects light at night - so at least he
can't get lost! Mel and Annette
were SO cold in the combi on the way
home! Their beds were beckoning!
