Babylonstoren & Cosecha Restaurant
Paarl

Babylonstoren is very much in the news of late.  The complete re-make of this estate has been 3 years in the process.  There are 14 suites;  and the former cow shed has been transformed into the airy restaurant, Babel.  The real heart of this farm is a fruit and vegetable garden stretching over 8 acres.

Babel is the restaurant where the ladies enjoyed a cup of coffee (or for those who chose tea this was served in such elegant cups) with a buttermilk rusk.  Just a pity that their 'policy' does not allow for groups of over 18 at any time.

The staff at Babel was so gracious and helpful - no wonder  - as coming to work in these surroundings every day must be very special.

Gundula the very special lady who tends to their gardens met us - complete with flowers in her hair.  She is SO very passionate about 'her' garden and as she says "How lucky can I be to be here - it's paradise lost and found".

It was good to be able to sit in the garden and catch up - Mel and Gillie take a breather.  Jenny was so keen to know about similar plants that she has in her garden.

Di perfectly dressed with her 'flower' necklace enjoyed her time strolling around this paradise.  The box of fresh greens above is what awaits guests when they check into the Babylonstoren accommodation.

Then it was time to head next door to Noble Hill Estate for lunch at Cosecha Restaurant, where Kathleen and Johene welcomed us.  In the words of Kathleen "We are so excited to welcome your group to our estate - we have added several extras!  A welcoming cup of butternut soup; a taste of their new sauvignon blanc and a meeting with our dishy wine maker - Bernard le Roux"

Cosecha Restaurant on Noble Hill is in a special place along the Klapmuts Road and instantly puts one at ease.  With their extensive gardens, and dam on the property it makes for a wonderfully relaxed day out.

Gillie is listening intently to Ann who always seems to explain her stories with her hands.  Cynthia is also relaxed and enjoying her "Time Out" with her friends.

Our butternut soup elegantly served in a cup and saucer - their Tequila chicken spinach pasta and Margarita cheese cake completed our lunch.  Definitely worthy of a return visit!

One of the very nicest things about life is the way
we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing
and devote our attention to eating
