Part of our happy bunch
taking a stroll on the
beach after lunch at
Voorstrandt Restaurant
(in the back-ground).
On
arrival in Paternoster
we stopped the coach
outside this quaint
'general dealer' which
is also home to
Oep Ve Koep,
a new restaurant which
is currently featured in
many foodie magazines.
Carol & Ingrid are seen
talking to chef Kobus.
There is limited seating
on the verandah and in
the garden, which makes
this restaurant very
weather dependent.
Seating capacity is 24.
(Our group of 34
couldn't be
accommodated).
The shop is very well
stocked with bric-a-brac
and as the sign shows,
petty crime exists in
Paternoster as well.
Dianne Heesom-Green
runs the local gallery,
Stone Fish Studio.
She exhibits her own
work as well as that of
other artists. This
studio is worth a visit.
(in St Augustine Road,
just before the
Paternoster Hotel)
Since our last visit 2
years ago we have
noticed many more houses
on the beachfront. The
Voorstrandt Restaurant
(red roof) is where we
were booked for lunch.
The spring flowers were
in abundance in
Paternoster as well as
along the West Coast
road.
We bumped in to a few of our group in the "panty bar" at the Paternoster Hotel, and others sitting in an old rowing boat (just begging to have their photo taken).
The
drinks orders have been
taken and all we need to
do now is decide what we
are having for lunch.
The fish & chips and calamari were great. Cheese cake and ice-cream were excellent;
Paternoster is a great place to spend a few days; relax, walk on the beach and savour the treats available from the 5 (or so) restaurants. One day is definitely not enough.
