The newly renovated
Rijks Country House is
now part of the African
Pride group of hotel.
It is an awesome place;
their staff are superb
and attentive; and the
view that we experienced
from their Iceberg
Terrace make your heart
feel warm!
The coach dropped us all
off in the Main Road and
we could stroll and look
at some of the old
houses, the Curious Cats Gift
Shop or enjoy coffee and
a chat with friends.
Erika and Theresa are
very curious how
Yvonne's honeymoon trip
went and this group of
lovely ladies in
Paddagang are always
happy to try some new
wine from different
regions.
Jenny brought friend, Ria along, and here she
introduces her to Sandy.
Meanwhile Di and Sally
are so delighted with
all their purchases.
Di just HAD TO buy a
whole selection of these
'fascinators' - "Hey in
Cape Town we would pay
double for these"
- luckily the store
where they found them
had a huge discount off
all purchases.
Jenny was as thrilled
with the feather- flower in her
hair.
Then it was time to head
for Rijk's Country House
for lunch. They
had staff welcoming us
with warm cloths to wipe
our hands - and their
lounge is so comfortable
and relaxing - some of
the ladies were heard to
say "Leave us here for
the weekend - we'll be
quite happy"
The verandah in
different seasons (summer
past and now in autumn). The
vine leaves now appear
in beautiful pastel
shades of pink, yellow
and rust.
Cheese tasting,
organised by
Kamilili
Cheese. Kimilili
has won several prizes
for their cheese
including "The Best
Cheese in the Western
Cape" - no wonder they
are proud!
They taste delicious
too.
The main course was either lamb
shank OR salmon trout - both
equally decadent and delicious.
"Hang in on the hips" stuff!
The vegetables were also great.
Ann and Maureen trying to decide
which shoes to buy at Tarzan
Shoes, whilst Joy was delighted
with her purchase especially
when she got to the till and
discovered it was less 40%
Guess who has lost her
marbles? -no
prizes - (caught on
camera replacing them!).
"Wonder whether its all
these years of looking
after the ladies
that's caused it"
Ha Ha...........No,
actually bought these
for my grandkids!
A close up of the
beautiful mix of autumn
colours of the vine leaves.
Let us be grateful to people who make us happy,
they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom
