Kalk Bay & Simonstown

Kalk Bay & Simonstown are on our doorstep, yet many Cape Town people don't often get there!  21 of us explored the area, yet again, and came home filled with the natural beauty that surrounds us!  How lucky we are to live in the Western Cape.

The Main Street in Kalk Bay with our Hylton Ross coach waiting for us to finish our browsing.  The What Not China Shop has moved into new premises and we all marveled at how they actually clean the store, never mind actually 'know' what stock they have!  Heather, Ann, Maureen and Marie enjoy the time together.

"Girls watch those handbags" was the chorus in the China Shop.  Maureen and Heather enjoy a cappuccino on the stationery train in Kalk Bay.

Chrissie and Dawn outside an antique store in Kalk Bay, whilst Joan and June posed for the photographer in Simonstown - "How do all these stores make a living?" was the general consensus!

Ann found the 'perfect doggy' calendar with a look-alike just like the one she has at home.  The most photographed statue in Simonstown - "Just Nuisance" - the naval dog with a history.

Bertha's Restaurant on the quayside served us a delicious lunch.  A baby marrow soup with blue cheese, followed by Angel fish and calamari and for those who could manage it - ice cream and berry sauce.

Gillie says "Oh no it's that photographer again just as I'm reaching for my glass of wine" whilst Dennis didn't need an excuse to hug Erika.  Such good friendships are forged on these monthly outings.

Friendship is special
Like the flowers that bloom,
Or when a butterfly emerges
From within its cocoon...
