Our day started off at the
Cape
Talk studios
where they had set out
coffee/biscuits and cold drinks
for us. They were so
hospitable! |
|
|
|
Cape Talk is housed in
the Prime Media building
in Green Point.
Here,
Yumnah
welcomes us and
introduced us to
Aden
Thomas. His
endearing personality with the
wonderful "background to Cape
Talk" that he gave us, had
everyone 'eating out of his
hand.' |
|
|
We were taken through to
one of the studios where
Aden explained how they
get 'the show on air'.
The ladies clamoured to
be photographed with
Aden. Elizabeth,
Jenny and Annette share
a light moment with him. |
|
|
Di, Margot and Trish
also welcomed being
photographed, whilst
Erika, Norma, Veronica
and Theresa didn't miss
a word Aden was saying. |
|
|
"I
can always give up my
part-time job at Hospice
and become a DJ" says
Annette. It took
quite some persuasion on
Carol's part to get
everyone to leave the
studio to be in time for
their ride on the Wheel
of Excellence at the
waterfront. |
|
|
Susan, Carol and Dawn
photographed in front of
the wheel.
Colleen, Joan, Norma and
Wendy wait their turn
for a ride. (Norma
and Wendy were down from
JHB, where we discovered
the Wheel is moving to
in 2011) |
|
|
"Aren't we lucky the
South Easter hasn't come
up" said Glynnice, Amy,
Doreen and Jenny.
Diana, Gillie, Dawn and
Susan also eagerly
waiting their turn.
|
|
|
Our lunch was at
The Hildebrand
Restaurant.
By now the South Easter
had come up and we had
to sit indoors - pity
because views of the
V&A Waterfront
are spectacular. |
|
|
Trixie and Jenny were
thrilled to get their
gifts from the ladies
day. They were away and
missed the luncheon,
but, a sure way to
please any lady is with
a gift - so smiles all
around, even if the gift
was a belated one.
Maureen and Heather
still recognizing
friends - 'old' and
'new' from the collage
that was given to them
at the luncheon.
This collage seems to
becoming a regular
feature with one or two
ladies actually bringing
them in their bags to
help them to remember
new friends names!
Even though we had not
traveled a long distance
our time in the city was
a fun time spent with
friends! |
|
A Friend Is Like...
A friend is like a forest,
Or a lovely, calm blue sea,
A refuge from life’s problems,
As only a friend can be.
A friend is like a song,
Soothing to the brain,
Distracting us from trouble,
Neutralizing pain.
