HEMEL EN AARDE / HEAVEN RESTAURANT
Thursday 19th March '09

Our day started off with a pit stop at a good favourite of the ladies – the Peregrine Farm Stall.  Everyone got back to the coach munching – and a comment was made “Thank Goodness We Came Up Sir Lowry's Pass First – as after All This Munching The Coach Would Have To Go Up the Pass In First Gear!”
Then we had a stop at the Hemel-en-Aarde Village where the ladies made their way to the art gallery.

Amazing how a good art gallery brings out the ‘artist’ in everyone – and we all admired and criticized the art, knowing full well that we definitely could not have done better. June gazes in awe while (below left) Ann, Hilda and Lorraine chose to catch up outside in the sunshine

The Wine shop in the centre was also a great attraction.  Wine and port tasting being the order of the day

In the photo below Bridget seemed to be having a problem with her back – and Jenny was trying to help her ‘rub it better’.
Ute was delighted to have found an unusual container in the Thyme for Living shop and found the time to catch up with her neighbour – Liz.

All too soon time was up and we had to board the coach and head out of the Valley for lunch.

What an absolute delight the Heaven Restaurant is – I had read about it with its opening a few years ago. In a fertile valley of unbelievable beauty, with panoramic views over the surrounding mountains, Sandown Bay and beyond, you will find a small piece of heaven. Here good food, delicate wines, and warm company combine to deliver an unforgettable culinary experience. The staff are very welcoming and all in all definitely ‘worthy of another visit, as many of the ladies said!’

Lunch was a choice of Coq au Vin Chicken, Fish Cakes or spinach cannelloni!  The food was all scrumptious.  Forget the diets today ladies!!
Very attentive and efficient staff made lunch a pleasurable experience – what a difference trained staff make to an establishment!

No wonder everyone looked so happy and were so keen to ‘toast life’ and ‘happiness’
The views from this restaurant are ‘to-die-for’ and so very relaxing – the type of restaurant that you just do not want to leave!  Proof of this was that little groups of ladies congregated everywhere chatting and catching up.

Ingrid decided it was time to parade her latest fashion accessories – new sunglasses and hat all in a brighter shade of green!

Caroline decided to scale up the slopes and find herself a Protea (what is it with this flower eating?). Vaughan and Gwen took a short stroll along the road.

A fabulous day out in the country leaving everyone feeling very relaxed – days like this are SO good for your soul!  Coming back into the city with the traffic – one or two could be heard to say “Hey let’s go back to Heaven"
