PREVIOUS TIMEOUT -
THURSDAY 24TH APRIL 08-A DAY IN CERES |
|
BABA'S 'JEM' & WAVERLEY HILLS RESTAURANT |
|
|
Our first stop
this morning was at the home of Eileen
Theron. Eileen or Baba as she is known
to close family and friends lives in a quiet
little backstreet of Ceres. She’s an active
member of the Ceres Tourism Board. Eileen
personally exhibited and sold her wares at
the Utrecht Tourism Expo in Holland in
January 2007. Her house is a mixture of
‘home and shop', to the extent that bottles
of her products are displayed in the lounge,
dining room and kitchen. Eileen cooked
vetkoek and we sampled her jams and homemade
ginger beer. |
|
|
Our
group split into two and some went into town to
purchase discounted fruit juices from the
Wallet Kiosk – after all, Ceres is
famous for its fruit and juices. |
An absolute highlight was when
our coach parked in the little road outside
Eileen's house, it was ‘home-time’ for the
local school.
Being excited at seeing such a large 'bus'
in their streets, they entertained us for
some time. Singing NKosi Sikelele was such
a treat for of us all. |

|
Lunch was at The Waverley Hills Restaurant
outside Wolseley.
What a superb setting overlooking the
valleys and vineyards.
