The former home of a
baron has been turned
into a Country Manor
House that is so very
beautiful. This
was the setting for the
Time Out Ladies Club's
Christmas outing.
The end-of-the-year trip
has become very popular
and it was
over-subscribed by 6
persons. We were
so very delighted to
have a full coach going
out to Paarl for this
luncheon.
Everyone arrived in high
spirits, and were soon
meandering up to the
waterfall for a welcome
drink. It is a
300m walk along a cool
wooded path. A
glass of bubbly or
Grapetiser was most
welcome. What a
very special setting
this is!
Bridget, Laura and
Dennis taking in the
surroundings whilst
Brenda, Marie and
Heather get in the
picture and enjoy the
refreshments.
The four ladies above
all looked like they
were waiting for a bus.
In fact, Mel, Margie,
Molly and Rose had
decided to find a seat
in the only bit of
shade, on a hot day in
Paarl. Joy and
Jenny look very happy to
be together.
It was then time to head back to
the patio where Ruth and Dawn
spend time catching up. Others
enjoyed another pre-lunch drink
on the cool patio.
Our lunch had been set
up in their courtyard -
just as well because it
is very sheltered from
the wind. The
attentive staff made for
a very happy Christmas
get together.
The tables were decked with
Christmas crackers and little
gifts to hang on the Christmas
tree. "Gee the crackers
are beautiful" says Bridget!
"Wonder what they have inside?"
Jenny and Ann were very
happy to pose for the
photographer (some tend
to shy away at the time
but are always keen to
see the result!).
Rose, Dot and Jenny seem
keen to start
lunch.
Brian prefers to show
that he isn't enjoying
the extra attention from
Theresa! Chrissie
and Jenny decided it
might just be better to
change their appearance!
Never know who might
recognize them!!
Our main course was a
sirloin steak served
with potato croquettes
and vegetables with Cafe
de Paris butter.
Carol felt it necessary
to call the chef, Dane
out of his domain to
thank him for the
excellent meal. (Some
complained that their
steak was tough, but
judging by the empty
plates I would assume
that this was not the
majority!).
Linda, who has recently
returned to Cape Town
from her annual travels,
and Erika had only just
got their meal when they
were asked to "smile for
the camera". Juno then
called the photographer
to get a shot of her and
Molly.
The very elegant Cascade
Country Manor with a
gazebo tent erected for
a wedding which is
taking place on
Saturday. So glad
our function
coincided with the
wedding - because the
tent added extra
atmosphere to the
courtyard function
rooms. Lunch was
originally planned for
the patio, but early
morning winds resulted
in the change.
The end of our day-out
always comes too
quickly. We must
unfortunately take our
leave of this serene
manor and board our
coach to head home
again, with happy
thoughts of the day
spent with friends.
These outings feed our
souls.
