Days 1 & 2

We left the city and were on the R27 by just after 10h00......in rain and overcast skies.  Coffee at a farm stall warmed us up and after this we were delighted that the heavens opened, clouds drifted away and as we entered the West Coast National Park we had wonderful sightings of wild flowers.

Ruth and Trixie wasted no time in walking amongst the flowers and as you can see, such a delightful variety of 'blommies' bared their souls for us.  What a fabulous start.

We ended up having a late lunch at the Farmhouse Hotel - in fact so late that we only got up from the table after 4.00 pm.  How will we all handle dinner in another 3 hours!

Darling and Trinity lodges where we were to lay our heads tonight  - superb accommodation with very welcoming hosts.

Dinner was a real treat - eating in the dining room and having our meal cooked by Chef Debbie McLachlan of Hilda's Kitchen on the Groote Post Estate.

Ashley was delighted to have found a casing and tea pot which she absolutely "had to have" from the Darling Museum!  Ruth quickly enacted PW's pose in the Darling Evita se Perron museum.

On arrival in Clanwilliam, a 'must stop' is always the Rooibos factory shop.  Everyone stocked up on different flavours - Liquorice, Green Citrus & Ginger, Rooibos & African Spices!  Trixie admired the patch of white flowers.

The flower viewing from the Ramskop Nature Reserve over the Clanwilliam Dam is so wonderful - and also good times spent with friends even better.  The display of Quiver trees a delight as well.

This patch of blue flowers were such a welcoming sight as you came around the corner - after walking around the garden this bunch of happy ladies rested their weary legs in the Information office in Clanwilliam.
