Day 5: Monday 2nd July. |
|
We enjoyed breakfast in the
Pig' 'n Whistle
hotel and later spent a short time at the
Big Pineapple where thankfully Heather could
buy a Pineapple juice - this is pineapple
country yet the Hotel had no pineapple juice
- wonder why? |
|
The Louis Armstrong tribute
show led by
Richard Cox was fantastic - what a show.
Some ladies opted for
Mies Julie - also
apparently outstanding and controversial. |
|
By the time evening came everyone was in a
party mood - we tried to get in the vibe
with a walk down Main Street where the night
before there had been many buskers - but it
must have been too cold! Everyone
very quickly got into the party mood at the
Rat and Parrot pub.
|
|
Unfortunately when we went to
Haricots
for dinner the restaurant was so full that
it resulted in an hour and a half wait for
our starters and strange comments from staff like
- "We're so busy - we've run out of food
twice today" Sadly our group opted to
cancel the desserts after yet another long
wait and we left
en-masse. If only festival restaurants
would not do this! Overbook and
dissatisfy.......... It really is a pity
because the food is pretty good! |
Day 6: Tuesday 3rd July: |
|
Frank Sinatra wanna-bees all ready for the
11.00 show and Bridget was lucky to win a CD
of the music - wonderful memories for her! |
|
At 5pm 6 of us went to see
Marimba Magic
a
band of young men from Witbank.
Unfortunately we arrived early for the show
and it turned pretty cold so Lizann
convinced the performers to allow us to sit inside the Chapel before
the show. So by the time the show started
to a very small audience we felt we had
'heard it all' - nevertheless it was
catching music. |
|
Tonight a buffet dinner at the Highlander
was excellent - some went on to an 8.00 pm
show - some went home early - some went to
bed even earlier! |
|
Face the Music - was a
unique show - three women singing and
dancing, with the whole show being based on a
question/answer basis to test your knowledge of
music - very good! At the end of the
show everyone passed their forms around and
amazing how some people 'know' their music -
top score was 33/35 WOW!! Prize was a bottle
of Champers. |
