Day 1: Thursday 28th June.
Destination Knysna |
Early pickups from homes ensured that we
were able to leave the holding bay at the
airport just on 10h00. |
|
Everyone excitedly greeted fellow travellers
and we headed into the blue yonder on the
first day of our "adventure". First stop
was Wildebraam
Berry Estate, just outside Swellendam. |
|
A full tasting of their products along
with their berry liquors and a fabulous
explanation by Adele of the farm made for an
interesting break from our travels. A lfinger
lunch completed our stay at Wildebraam. |
|
Then it was back in the coach heading to
Knysna and the Knysna Log Inn, where we
would spend our first night. Dinner was at
Café Mario
definitely to be recommended - we had our
own private dining room, delicious food and
wonderful service. |
|
Day 2: Friday 29th June.
Destination Grahamstown |
Heading to Grahamstown but not before
stopping at the legendary
Nanaga Farm
Stall
for lunch. Their pies are notorious, as
is their rooster-koek. |
|
The shelves are lined with decadent product and most ladies wanted to make
sure that we would stop at Nanaga again en
route back to Cape Town to take product
home with them. |
|
On arrival in Grahamstown it was time to
settle everyone into their accommodation.
Four ladies stayed at Kings View cottages.
Two stayed in an apartment in the Kings
Garden complex next door. |
|
The interior of the Kings Garden apartment
where Meagan and Brenda put their heads down
at night. The second photo is of The Perch
cottage which Carol and Brian shared with
Lyn. |
|
Messenger Cottage at the High Corner Guest
House where Maxie and Lizann stayed and the
Briar Rose apartment block where Heather,
Ann and Theresa made themselves comfortable. |
|
Our first show was at the Monument where
the entire group enjoyed the premier
performance of the Janis Honeyman classic
The Blue Iris.
What an excellent start to the Festival. |
|
Dinner tonight was at
Norden's in the Cock
House where our party was made to feel very
welcome. By the end of the evening
most people were ready to call it a day and
settle into their beds! |
