KNYSNA 2012

Day 4: Friday 19th October: Visit to the
east head |
Two days ago we travelled up the lagoon to
the Featherbed Nature Reserve (Western
head); today we drive up the Eastern head to
experience the views from this side. |
|
|
Breakfast this morning was at
Ile de Pain on Thesen Islands. Once again a great start to
the day. The first view from the vantage
point on the eastern head, showing the low
tide. |

This left photo shows the coaches being
pulled along the path on Featherbed
Nature Reserve.
for an enlarged view. The right photo
shows the caves as viewed from the
eastern head.
There was a request for some more retail
therapy on the way back to Thesen
Islands, so the women were dropped in
the centre of Knysna and the men "went
home." |
|
Sunset along the waterways; time to relax, have
a glass of wine and look forward to dinner at
"home" |
|
Brian set up the weber and undercover braai
whilst Carol and her 'staff'' helped to set the
table and serve wine in the kitchen! |
|
|
Even
Francois (our driver) got involved in
watching the chicken on the weber.
Dinner is ready! |
|
|
Sandra
helps Linda to prepare the desert,
(Eton mess)
comprising chocolate coated
strawberries, meringue and cream.
Everything was now ready for us to sit
at the dining room table and enjoy the
meal. |
|
|
|
A view from the
stairway! Ronnie seems to be holding up his
arms in victory. (I have finished all my
food). Now all we have to do is pack the
dishwasher (once again, Carol had excellent
'staff') - and of course pack our cases for
the homeward journey tomorrow. |
Day 5: Saturday 20th October: Homeward bound |
We
packed the vehicle in the rain and departed
Thesen Islands, destination Sedgefield. |
|
|
We were hoping that the weather
might just be better in Sedgefield
to allow us to have breakfast at the
Wild Oats market; Unfortunately this
was not to be and we had to take the
next option, breakfast at Wimpy. |
|
|
We
were soon back on the road again and stopped in
Swellendam for lunch. (La Belle Aliance). The
rain continued and we were comfortably seated
inside. Brian took the opportunity to thank
Francois on behalf of all passengers, for his
safe driving and easy going personality. Our
trip ended at the airport holding bay where half
of the party moved to the awaiting Kombi for
onward transport home. Thanks to everyone for
their participation |

You may lose your memory,
your health & sanity,
and some important organs,
but they can't take away your travel memories,
unless they hit you hard on the head! |
