PRETORIA CITY TOUR - HALF
DAY |
|
Pretoria has an aura which evokes a
feeling of peace and tranquillity! Known
as the Jacaranda city, its streets are
lined with magnificent Jacaranda trees,
which shroud the city in a magical mauve
hue. Being the administrative capital
and home to the largest university in
South Africa, the buildings from
embassies to monuments are imposing and
ornamental. This city is steeped in
history, and you’ll be able to soak up
the atmosphere of Church Square
surrounded by its beautiful buildings.
One of these buildings is the Palace of
Justice where Nelson Mandela was charged
with treason during the liberation
struggle. You’ll be fascinated by the
stories of the early settlers when we
visit the Voortrekker Monument.
You’ll walk in the footsteps of the
first President of the old Transvaal
Republic when you visit the Kruger
Museum, once the private residence of
President Paul Kruger. Furnished in its
original style, it is filled with
interesting exhibits including the
Presidents state coach and his private
railway carriage.
When Nelson Mandela was inaugurated
President of South Africa in 1994 the
Union Buildings formed the backdrop for
camera footage which was viewed around
the world. You can capture this same
iconic backdrop as a souvenir of your
visit to a city which hosted a ceremony
which changed the history of South
Africa. |
