MYSTERY VENUE TOUR-2012

SCHOONGEZICHT-PAARL
A small part of the extensive buffet, which proved to be a gastronomical feast!

After an early start in Tableview (08h30) we stopped in Constantia Village to collect additional passengers and then set out along the N2 with a fully laden coach to our first stop, Blaauklippen Wine Estate where a Christmas market was underway.

We came across our YEI prize winners, Lindy & Mike Chung talking to Jenny at the Alpaca enclosure whilst Trixie & Dawn were discussing items on display. Fortunately we were able to make use of the shade as it was predicted that we could experience temperatures in the early 30's today!

The market takes place every week-end and provides access to local crafters as well as food & vegetable items.

All too soon it was time to move on to our Mystery lunch venue which was about 20 km from the market. Lunch was available from 12 noon.

Our mystery venue was Schoongezicht, a buffet restaurant offering a wide range of starters, mains and desserts in gargantuan proportions.

The well laid out buffet area and huge selection of items made selection easy. Unfortunately there was just too much available and too little time to do justice to the full buffet.

I wasn't able to record details of the full buffet as I was told that the owner didn't allow photography in the serving area. so had to respect this.

Our 5 tables had been set to accommodate 42 of us, and seating had been pre-arranged to ensure easy entry into the restaurant. Once seated and drinks were ordered, the Christmas spirit became evident.

Christmas crackers started "popping" , and some guests were soon decked out with hats whilst others were showing off their recently gained valuables.

We had a number of visitors with us today and whilst it was uncomfortably hot in the restaurant, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

The ladies at this table were all so intent on what they were doing that they never even looked up at our photographer. (or were they just too hot?)

Some guests were lucky to win one of 16 gifts, via a ticket draw - everyone LOVES to receive gifts especially at Christmas time!
We were also entertained by impromptu  singing (acapella) by a number of men attending a birthday lunch at an adjacent table.
By 3.45pm we were back on the coach, heading home. Even though we got the air conditioner operating before everyone boarded, it was still uncomfortable for a while. (The outside temperature was 32 degrees, so with a full load on board the coach, the air conditioner couldn't cope.)

Memories last forever &
never do they die.
True friends stay together &
never say goodbye.
