MONDVOL PADSTAL

What a Mondvol (Mouthful) for lunch.! These boards groaning with a delicious deli type lunch were the perfect way to enjoy lunch on a HOT January day.

The first stop was the Vyge Valley Farm stall where Cecelia was delighted to find Pumpkin fritters.

Mondvol on the Trekoskraal road is a welcome oasis.  They very kindly closed their restaurant for us so as to give us maximum service.

Charmaine and Alex are the charming hosts who go out of their way to make sure that the time you spend at Mondvol is "worth coming back for".

The long tables on the outside verandah make for wonderful conversation!  Not that this  is ever lacking on a trip with ladies!

Alta Nel who makes cheese under the label Altwic Cheese, shares a Gruyere cheese which her husband had made.  When one considers that it takes about 60 liters of milk to make a cheese this size, you can appreciate the cost. Alta provided individual tastings of her range of cheeses and spoke about each one.

We then ventured out in the mid-day sun to look at the source of the milk, the most beautiful goats - pure white and ever so friendly - perhaps they thought all these people staring at us must mean we'll get an extra snack for our patience.

Here Alex gets help to put the giant wooden board down on the table!  Wow, what a spread!

Of course, no trip into the country is ever complete without gathering - here 3 of our ladies form a line at the till to pay for their purchases.  Hilda believed it was more fun to go for a ride on the bicycle outside!
