The Zulu tribe has a colourful and
exciting history and today it’s your
turn to visit Zululand for a first-hand
experience of their customs and
traditions. After a drive through the
sugar cane plantations we arrive at the
village by the beat of the African
drums. We’ll see the largest Zulu kraal
in all of Zululand!
The sight of Zulu worriers in
traditional costume adorned with
assegais and spears and the beautiful
beaded costumes and headgear of the
women is truly thrilling! We are
welcomed into their huts to observe
their way of life and watch crafters at
work creating pots, shields, spears, and
even their own huts. We visit the
iSangoma to see the traditional healer
in action, and we even get to taste
traditional Zulu beer! A delicious Zulu
feast awaits us and while we enjoy the
vast variety on offer we are entertained
by the energetic Zulu dancers, singers
and musicians.
Upon departure we are left with a sense
of fulfilment at having been privileged
to participate in sharing the culture
and customs of Zulu people. |
