LETS DO THE FLOWERS

The flower trip started off in
the Ramskop Nature
Reserve where we were so very lucky that the sun
shone at the right time…….and the flowers put
their very best faces to the sun for us.
A picnic lunch "standing
around nature" was a wonderful way to truly
appreciate what we had come to the area for!
After viewing the Clanwilliam Wild flower show
and exploring the town of Clanwilliam we were
all more than ready to check into our
accommodation @ Blommenbergs – always so very
comfortable and welcoming. |

Bright and early next day we traveled to
Nieuwoudtville about 160 km from Clanwilliam.
The previous day they had torrential
rain and we arrived to find a grey day………rain
everywhere! However even these
CHAROLAIS cows caught the attention of the
photographers amongst us |
|
|
|
We
traveled to Matjiesfontein,
a quaint farm about 20 km outside of
Nieuwoudtville where our group posed
happily for our first group photo!
Lunch was at the Rooidak House in
Nieuwoudtville after which the
group tried to ‘gather’ and shop…….not
much in the way of purchases but Brenda
and Manuela managed to find ‘the bargain
of the century’ – plastic lined shoppers
for a ridiculous price.
A trip to the waterfall outside town
opened our eyes, once again, to the
beauty of nature. |

|
|
Then
we took the loop road – an
absolutely fascinating ride through nature – and
the sun shone and the "blommies" opened! Life
was good to us!
We traveled through farmers’ lands – proof of
this is the number of farm gates we had to open
and close! We trundled back to Clanwilliam –
tired but ever so satisfied after a day of
splendour.
Dinner was at Reinholds – our very own private
dining room with exquisite food. |

|
Next day it was a bit more
shopping – first at Strassbergers – leather
shoes…………and most of the ladies just ‘had’ to
have a new pair of shoes.
AND some Rooibos tea………….thank goodness we did
the early tour – and we had the shop to
ourselves…………..the ladies ‘gathered’ and
‘gathered’ Mary said “Wonderful Christmas gifts”
– Brenda said “I just have to have those as
well”
Lunch on the way home was at Kloof Wine Estate
outside Darling – once again, we had the place
to ourselves…………what a treat to end our trip in
this way. |

|
Wine tasting and a delicious lunch – newfound
friends, marvellous memories of stupendous nature
–
What a lovely time spent
together -
let’s do it again next year! |
