PREVIOUS TRAVELTIME - Saturday 29th June to Sunday 1st July - CHRISTMAS IN WINTER IN TULBAGH

Our trip to Tulbagh started atTwee Jonge Gezellen Wine Estate – lunch was in their Cellar – followed by a Sabrage demonstration by one of the Krone sons.

A tour of the champagne cellar followed giving us marvelous insight into the production of champagne.

True to form the rain came down, and before long it was time to check into our overnight accommodation.

Roaring fires were the order of the day for some lucky to have fireplaces in their rooms – and the afternoon was spent ‘chilling’.

At 6.30 pm we met for a pre-dinner drink – this was followed by a Christmas dinner at Plums Restaurant.

What gigantic portions were enjoyed by all……true country hospitality with wonderful friendly staff.

Gifts were exchanged………….handed out by willing staff………Christmas music played – all in all a festive evening to remember!

Elzaan and her staff were at the restaurant to wave us all goodbye! Such true country hospitality.

Next morning saw us all enjoying a group breakfast at Hunters Retreat – followed by a visit to De Oude Drostdy Museum where the locals had decorated Christmas trees throughout the majestic museum.

We then went to the Things I Love and all enjoyed an hour or two – soaking up the sun – watching the fascinating country people – and all too soon it was time to get back into our coach and head back to the city.

How can some women manage to do SO very much shopping – Ethel and her sister Verna managed to store away their purchases in a little corner of the coach.

Memories are made of this!
