Our
trip began at the visitors centre at the Berg
Water Project. Situated 5 kilometres outside the
town of Franschhoek, the Berg River Dam will
supply water to the City of Cape Town as part of
the Western Cape Water Supply System.
The Berg River Dam is
designed to capture the winter rains and store
the water until summer when the demand for water
increases and rainfall decreases.
We were given an audio
presentation was presented, after which we went
to a vantage point where the dam was clearly
seen.
After our dam visit we went into Franschhoek for
Bastille Day.
Franschhoek comes alive with these traditional
celebrations. Many people visit the town –
buskers are around and everyone dons
red/blue/white berets – in fact, by mid-day
Hospice had sold out of them.
A large group of us enjoyed lunch at the French
Connection………All in all, a very special day and
one to be repeated next year!
