have.

The joy of doing a trip to Philadelphia is
that it is so near to the city - yet miles
away in so many ways! The Pepper Tree Art
Stable and Coffee Shop is a revelation -
they had set up coffee and tea with
delicious shortbread in the art gallery for
us all. Very welcoming indeed!
Amy and Doreen enjoy catching
up with each other - and Caroline
keeps a watchful eye on the photographer!
Watch who you're photographing, now Carol!
The walls of the art studio are bedecked with
fantastic art and the pottery shop well worth a
visit. Plenty of good Christmas gifts to
be had here - if you want to start shopping
early.
Rose, a visitor waited her turn
for coffee at the urn. Gillie and
the Two Junes relax on the couch with
their coffee.
Eighteen of the group had pre-arranged to paint
a bowl or mug which would be fired and collected
later. Theresa and Linda
concentrating and not looking up at the
photographer. Art is fun - June and
Susan are also intensely busy with their
projects. The balance of the group visited the
local weaver next to the Post office, Magic
Minerals over the road and also looked at the
intricacies of stained glass in the Art Studio.
The Post Office building on the
left with Magic Minerals on the
right. What a treasure trove - kept the
ladies busy browsing for ages. Philadelphia is
so tiny that locals have never bothered to
signpost the few streets. There are 5
streets (Main, Meul, Mostert, Louw and Baken) so
streets signs are not necessary. Remember
the TV series - The Village People - nice to
know in today's busy times - there are still
areas like this. "Does your soul good to
come here to get peace" - said one lady.
June and Mollymade
friends with Maurice in
the Magic Minerals shop. He has
such a wonderful collection of rocks,
stones, crystals and gems while cacti,
garden accessories and herbs spill onto
the patio outside his shop.
Sandy enjoyed browsing in the
shop at Peppertree Coffee Shop.
Joan found her niche with
painting fish on a bowl. The
photographer found Ann and Susan
hard at work - must say there is great
excitement to receive the glazed product
in a weeks time!
Very modern coffee mugs all lined up ready to be
fired. Joy was very thrilled
with her dish - perhaps "I can go into
competition with Mr Price Home Store" she said.
Our lunches are always a time to sit and
chat, laugh and enjoy good times
together. This setting
with purple chairs looks so romantic -
comfortable al fresco dining.
Thankfully the rain held off until we
were ready to board the coach.
Peppertree Art Stable was opened by
Annalet Aspeling in June 2007. "I
realised a lot of the husbands needed
something to while their wives looked at
the art in the gallery" says Annalet.
This coffee shop is known for its
decadent chocolate cake A real treasure
trove up the N7 - "We'll be sure to
bring family back here" was generally
heard.
Dot took time out to rejuvenate the
youth in her!
