EARTH HOUR - 2013
22nd -24th March 13

Day 3: Sunday 24th March - Homeward bound

This 150 year old tree is magnificent - and very worthy of a photo!

The accommodation at Blue Gum is indeed very comfortable.  Two lounges are at visitors disposal and a super place to meet for a chat.

Our coach driver Chris, seems very happy with his breakfast of fried bananas, French toast and bacon - he needs to keep his strength up with our group of travelers! There had been a wedding the night before at Blue Gum Country Estate and unique heart decor was still hanging in the breakfast room.  Of course, everyone was guessing who the bridal couple was - however, none of us got it right!

On our way home through Hermanus we went up Rotary Way - what a stunning view of Hermanus and its surrounds - and the general consensus was that even seasoned Capetonians had never been up to this point!

Dawn seemed anxious to invite Marie to see the unique portable loo she discovered.  Marie had meantime discovered these beautiful proteas which rode back with us to the city!

The Mofam River lodge outside Elgin was our stopover for lunch!  It is in a stunning setting and worthy of the few extra kilometres needed to travel here.

Mel tried to persuade the young ski instructor to come back to Cape Town with us - but he said he had duties to perform and politely declined!  What a lovely place to stop en route back to the city.
A great extended week end was had by all;
The accommodation was great;
The food and companionship were great, but
the Earth Hour celebrations in Stanford proved to be a bit of a damp squib!
Perhaps the organisers didn't get the support they expected?
