THURSDAY 28th AUGUST 08-VISIT THE RIEBEEK
VALLEY |
|
OLIVE BOUTIQUE & CAFÉ FELIX |
|
The Riebeek Valley on a Cold & Wet Rainy Day in
August. |
|
|
The day dawned with heavy downpours – we drove through to
Riebeek Kasteel in pouring rain.Juliana
Meredith of the Olive Boutique
invited us all into her huge kitchen –
complete with a fire in the corner. What a
cosy atmosphere – this is a ‘kitchen-to-die-for’
Juliana is a mine of information and
gave us a history of the Valley coupled with
her knowledge of the olive industry. We did
a tasting of their tapenades, pastes and of
course, their olives. The most popular
being the one with blueberry dressing. A
wine tasting of local wines helped to warm
us all. |
|
|
The women then ‘raided’ the shop. What a treat it always is
to ‘gather’ and take home – a very important
part of our visits into the country. |
Lunch today was at Café Felix.
Felix, the Cat, was, on hand, to welcome us. |
|
Café Felix is such a comforting restaurant. They had
set up a ‘U’ shape for us so a wonderful way
for us to all eat ‘together’ – share
information and have an awesome lunch –
potato soup with gorgonzola to start,
absolutely delicious. A choice of Thai Green
Chicken Curry or an awesome pasta with
Olives, Mushrooms and pesto followed by a
berry dessert that was pronounced ‘fit for a
king’
Looking at these happy faces will show you why “TIME
OUT” with friends is SO important. |
|
|
After lunch we were taken on a tour of the
Old Oak Manor Guest House. |
Theresa wasted no time to quickly test whether the bed was
to her liking! |

When ladies come on coach trips – they tend
to gather.
New member Sandy Maxwell can now call herself a
‘professional’ shopper, and has
‘officially joined-the-ranks’
