Die Eike-Rawsonville
26th October 2023 Tour Report
We had a trip to the awesome Breedekloof.
What is TIME OUT ?
To take TIME OUT to restore your soul!
To be surrounded by awesome views;
To spend time with fabulous company; and
To see (and hear) that others feel the same!”
Thanks to all who joined this trip.
We started our day off at the DUTOITS KLOOF WINE ESTATE where some tasted (and bought) wine, whilst others enjoyed coffee and a catch up on the patio outside the restaurant. Their fresh scones were delicious – with strawberry jam and cream!
Then it was off to DIE EIKE where Martelle warmly welcomed us to this beautiful property which is very close to the Goudini Spa. She gave us a short background of the property – interesting in that the restaurant was previously a dam! (Used to be called Dam Fine Café until Martelle took over and changed the name.
Her staff were so very efficient and soon everyone was able to order something to drink & relax. Lunch was served timeously and what a delicious meal it was!
A CHOICE OF 3 MAIN COURSES
Pork ribs served with sweet potato pie, vegetable bake & chips.
Hake, Grilled or Fried, served with Tartare sauce, chips & a side salad.
Chicken Schnitzel served with a cheese sauce, chips & a side salad.
A delicious Chocolate Brownie with vanilla ice cream finished off our lunch.
Sadly about 15h00 it was time to leave and head back to the city on the very busy N1 highway. The highway is, in fact, busier than usual because of recent flooding on the N2 which has closed the highway off at Bot River making the N1 the only way to head to the Garden Route!
The distance from The Breedekloof to Tableview is 95km – which Google says should take 1 hour 16 minutes – with late afternoon traffic out of Cape Town a little longer which meant that the second group going to Constantia travelled almost 3 hours to get home!
A few comments:
Thank you for a very special day. It was fabulous and lovely to be out and about again. I really, really enjoyed it. I even had a ride on the swing with Hilda pushing me and she also enjoyed a ride with her sister, Ann! ELAINE CORBETT
It was a day of laughter, meeting new friends, and tranquillity – if one could imagine that combination! I appreciate so much the research you do to open our surrounds to enable us to share the beauty on our doorstep, ANGELA.
Thank you, Carol. Lovely to meet you. I really enjoyed the day, and I will try to join again! LESLEY
