IMPORTANT NOTICE

All departures are suspended with immediate effect.
Once new dates are available we will update the website and
confirm pricing.

The refurbished Desert Express train has been operating on the Windhoek-Swakopmund-Windhoek line since July 2019 (3 day trips).
Covid-19 interrupted the operation from March 2020 until September 2020.
Currently the train is scheduled for the last weekend of each month (Friday-Sunday).

A preliminary Itinerary is as follows:

WINDHOEK – SWAKOPMUND – WINDHOEK

DAY 1 – Friday

11:00 Check in at the Windhoek Railway Station
12:00 Visit the historical Railway Museum, cultural performance and
welcome drinks at the Station 12:00
13:00 Depart: Guests served with light lunch
14:00 Game drive at Okapuka Ranch
16:30 Biltong and Droewors stop at Okahandja
19:00 Dinner on board – A la Carte menu

Train overnight at a secure siding

 DAY 2 – Saturday

7:00 Breakfast en route to Swakopmund
8:00 Dune excursion
10:00 Arrive at Swakopmund Railway Station.  Guests disembark

• End of Windhoek-Swakopmund one way trip
• Start of Swakopmund-Windhoek one way trip

14:30 Check in at Swakopmund Railway Station.
15:00 Depart: and guests served with late light lunch on train
18:00 Sundowner at Stingbank
20:00 Dinner: Braai or Potjie at secure siding (open space)
21:00 Night entertainment & Ohungi around the fire

DAY 3 – Sunday

07:00 Breakfast en route to Okahandja
08:40 Visit Okahandja craft market
11:30 Cheetah feeding and Buffet lunch at Okapuka Lodge
15:00 Arrive at Windhoek Railway station. Guests disembark

Unscheduled time changes can occur due to unforseen & unplanned circumstances.

• Per Child (4-12 Years):                                      N$ 2,450

VEHICLE TRANSFER RATE (One Way):           N$ 1,900

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Kindly note that, as a moving hotel, the train requires a minimum booking capacity to run, thus please double check booking status before making any payments. We will definitely update our status at least 45 days before departure.
