Deirdre’s Letter to Carol

Dear Carol,

I am leaving Cape Town at midday, and am doing so regretfully, as I have had a simply wonderful three months here!

Included in my happy memories are the days we spent on your Spring Flowers tour. Coming on that trip was the fulfilment of a long-held dream, and it was truly fantastic to see all the beautiful flowers and the superb beaches. Both were greatly appreciated, and I took lots of photos, which my friends have really admired. I will tell them all about the trip when I return to Durban!

It must be a difficult job being a tour guide, and trying to please everybody with all their different interests, and I admired you for doing your best to accommodate everyone.

Janice and I were not interested in the Fossil Park, but Christine, Bianca, Sharon and Steve all came back from that excursion feeling totally enthusiastic and happy!

Janice and I loved walking on the various beaches, and taking photos. That was a real joy.

We also enjoyed meeting lots of different people, and hearing about their lives, as we chatted during meal times. I have to compliment you on choosing wonderful places in which to enjoy our lunches and dinners. The picnic on the beach was a great start to the tour, and will always remain in my memory. The food was absolutely superb, and very impressive. Please give the chef at the Blaauwberg Hotel my praise!  I will definitely patronise that hotel in the future!

Every meal thereafter was absolutely memorable for their settings and the food. I loved the Cellar at the wine farm, both dinner venues in Darling, where so much attention to detail had been made with table settings, and orchids, as well as the delicious food!

The beach settings in Langebaan, with the beautiful sunset, (which I always appreciate as I love taking photos of sunrises and sunsets!), and our last lunch at Paternoster were truly in scenic surroundings.

The Hello restaurant in Hopefield was memorable because of the superb waitress, and the excellent presentation of each meal. I will be writing to the manageress there to commend her on  the service and the food.

I will always remember your attention to details, too. The labels for our suitcases were a brilliant idea, and the  welcoming folder with the itinerary, and the sweets, was a great first impression.

I’m sure you are exhausted after the tour, but hopefully you will relax now, and have some happy memories, too.
