TRAVELTIME - OPSTAL
HARVEST - 24TH FEBRUARY, 2007 |
|
|
|
Our trip to Opstal
started with us leaving the city at 7.30 am – a
very early start for many of us! On arrival a
snoek wrap with red onion marmalade and coffee
started the “workers’ off with a lining in their
stomachs!
They then loaded us on the
back of a truck……..then the picking started in
all earnest with a challenge – five buckets or
NO LUNCH!! Even the youngest of our party,
little Keagan (only 4 and a bit) got involved! |

|
|
Everyone entered into the
spirit of things – and the challenge was on!
Some ladies brought the correct sun protection
with good hats!
Others said “I don’t wear
hats” - but at the end of our first hour and a
half everyone was looking for staff to carry
their full buckets to the skip! With background
scenery like this, who couldn’t be inspired!
And at the end of the
picking the farmer rewarded us with grape juice
and, of course, we got to taste some of his
wine! |
The foot
stomping of the newly picked grapes was such fun
as well as the cool waters of the Opstal
Fountain.
Even our coach driver ( Wayne) worked for his
lunch.
All in all a day filled with many happy memories
and for the launch outing of TRAVELTIME
certainly a good omen for future happiness!
