KNYSNA
2009
23rd
to 27th September '09 |
|
DAY 1:
Destination:
Thesen Island - Knysna
An early morning start for all of us.
Shuttle pick-up started before 07h00 in
Constantia and Tableview.
Our group comprised 22 passengers, 20 ladies
and 2 men!
This photo says it all - A removal truck had
to be hired to move everyone's shopping!.. |
|
|
|
|
En
route to Knysna the ladies always seem ready to
pose for the photographer. Rolandale
outside Swellendam is a good place to sit for a
while and relax and have lunch. |
|
The
houses on Fairmile Point all ready
to welcome our group. We wasted no time,
and quickly got ready for our evening at
Kilzer's Kitchen - their 'You Look We
Cook' evenings are legendary and we were all
very excited, despite having traveled over 7
hours to get to Knysna! |
|
|
|
This evening proved to be the highlight
of our trip. The atmosphere at
Kilzer's kitchen is electrifying, they
encourage you to come and stand in their
kitchen, share their recipe secrets with
you and generally you get the feeling,
you are at the home of good friends for
dinner! |
|
|
|
The kitchen is a stage for all to enjoy.
Jenny has a unique brand of humor - her
jokes are fantastic, and Albin just
seems to work quietly in the background.
We all marveled at the way Jenny
and Albin manage to serve nearly
40 people with their meal with all this
bantering going on in their kitchen!
|
|
Wow we all said - a four course spread!
You are served starters which was a pastry
with goats cheese and poached pears. First
course was a grilled sole with hollandaise
sauce and divine fresh asparagus, followed
by beef fillet with peppercorn sauce and
delicious vegetables. The dessert was
unbelievable - a strawberry yoghurt served
atop meringues with a chocolate brownie
which was melt-in-the-mouth stuff - forgot
the calories we all piled on! To be
spoilt like this in someone's home is
paradise. |
|
|
|
Brian tried to persuade
Barbi to go and do the dishes
in the kitchen. Gillie looks ever
so glamorous tonight. Mel
and Barbi - mom and daughter
take "Time Out" to enjoy each others
company. |
