Sunday 11th May:
Our journey to Graaff Reinet,
home of Mount Camdeboo Private
Game Reserve, covers a distance
of 711 kM and because of this we
will be breaking our trip in
Prince Albert (408kM). Our home
for tonight will be at Karoo
View Cottages, described by the
owners as “In the middle of
nowhere, close to everywhere”.
Monday 12th:
We continue via Beaufort West
and Aberdeen and will arrive in
Graaff Reinet (309 Km)around
lunch time.

Eastern Cape's Great Karoo.

We will spend three nights here.

Tuesday 13th & Wednesday 14th: We
will be making full use of the
facilities and game drives at
Mount Camdeboo, namely: Game
Drives / Guided bush walks /
Cheetah tracking (during a game
drive, at the sole discretion of
the ranger) / Star gazing. (The
Great Karoo has some of the
clearest skies in the southern
hemisphere, which offer up
glittering treasures of the
sky). / Mount Camdeboo Small Cat
Project / Project Walk – an easy
2hr morning walk along the
valley to take in the various
Mount Camdeboo Breeding
Projects. / Historic Anglo Boer
War site where the pivotal
"Battle of Paardefontein" was
fought. It is here that the
famous Boer Commander Johannes
Lötter was finally captured.

Time permitting we will also
take in some local attractions,
such as:
Historic tour of Graaff Reinet /
Pre-historic fossil trails and
bone collections / Africa's
largest selection of cacti / The
breathtaking
Valley of Desolation.
Thursday 15th:
Today we take our leave of this
beautiful area and return to
Cape Town via Mossel Bay
(381kM), where we will
overnight.
Friday 16th:
The
final leg of our journey (394kM)
will take us along the N2 to
Cape Town where we should arrive
by mid afternoon |
