Feathers Inn is
Piketberg's new boutique
up-market self catering / bed
and breakfast accommodation of
choice, widely acclaimed as the
destination that has brought
back the essence of early 20th
century style and ambiance to
the Swartland area.
George
& Nola Fletcher have
gone the extra mile in the town
of Piketberg and come up with a
winner. |
|
|
|
Archers Bistro.
is
their on-site restaurant.
The conference facility
named "Ye
Olde Barn Owl"
is where our
lunch was hosted today. Nola
had done an amazing job
of decorating the room
with her special
feminine touch. |
|
|
The Feathers Inn
definitely warrants a
stop when you are
heading up to see the
Spring flowers.
Their rooms are so very
tastefully decorated.
A perfect base to stay
and "come home to" every
evening after sight-seeing in the area! |
|
|
Nola's passion was to
start a
Deli
in Piketberg and she is
well on her way to
achieving this goal. The
ladies sat in rapture
listening to Garry and
his take on "how they
came to live in the
Western Cape".
Garry is the dynamo
behind STAHGS (Stay
Abreast of Home
Gourmets) - Chilli
Relish, Garlic Cream,
Chocolate Spread (with
hilarious comments from
the ladies about "Where
are the paintbrushes?!")
We also learnt today what
keeps the locals busy!
Pam & Colin came
from their farm over the
Bo-Piketberg pass and
enticed everyone with
Mead.
Many years ago Nicky had
a passion for making
teddy bears. He now
produces quilts,
lavender bags, and the
ladies were thrilled
with their purchases! |
|
|
Nicky also had stories
to tell. One
easily remembered, is
how he went to the
Oriental Plaza years ago
with his sister, and
bought a huge collection
of fur for his first
bears. This
passion of creating the
bears had the ladies clamoring to
"Adopt-a-Bear".
The faces of Nicky's
teddy bears beg you to
take them home.
They are beautifully
dressed as well. |
|
|
Garry advises Ann &
Ingrid on which spread
to buy. Cynthia found
just what she 'needed'
to take home and was
keen to pay for it. |
|
|
George and
his in house chef
served delicious
bobotie (spicy with a
bite) and a butternut
lasagna (delicious and
very different). There
was also
chicken-a-la-king and an
awesome paella. Nola and
her mom
had set the tables
extremely well
and it was a welcoming
sight for the hungry
ladies! Amazing
what a cold day does to
your appetite.
Garry had put his
samples out and they
made 'short work' of
some toasted ciabatta
bread with the toppings. |
|
|
Cecelia and Susan wait
patiently for their turn
to be served lunch.
They were seated at
TABLE 4 which was the LAST to be
served. Meanwhile
Brenda, in the middle,
gives Jenny and Ann
their 'monthly hug'. |
|
|
The outside bandstand
is perfect for weddings,
musical soirees, or high
tea and the coach is an
ideal place to catch up
on 40 winks after a busy
day out in the country. |
|
Cloudy
days or rainy days,
whatever the weather,
the monthly
Time-Out days
always bring sunshine & smiles |
