The Mountain Shadows
Guest House is in such a
perfect setting in
Paarl. It lies
virtually under majestic
mountains. They
offer 4* accommodation
and do weddings as well.
Initially we took the
coach into Main Road
Paarl, where the ladies
had several options.
One was to visit the
quaint Strooidak Church
(one of the oldest in
the Western Cape).
Here Ann and Hilda (two
sisters) enjoyed a quiet
time in the church
together.
Cafe Juno
was another option for a
coffee - Brenda
decided to 'hold court'
and an informal
discussion was enjoyed
by all!
The restaurant at
Mountain Shadows has
awesome views.
Misty the owner's
daughter is responsible
for the planning of all
functions, and what an
efficient person she is!
Their catering is in the
hands of the
daughter-in-law, Laura
who also does an
excellent job.
Kathy the owner's wife
told us how to start the
bottling of olives.
Whilst dad, Gerald made
sure we tasted some of
his delicious red wine.
They only bottle 1000
bottles each harvest !
The olives, coupled with
fresh ciabatta, olive
oil and balsamic vinegar
was a delicious start to
our lunch. 'Our'
Trish is back in South
Africa and is looking so
very well after her
treatments in the UK.
She was warmly welcomed
by Yvonne.
This happy bunch of
ladies all got together
for the camera man.
GOOD FRIENDS are better
than GOOD
WINE.................as
time goes on with our
tours we are all getting
to know each other a bit
better and this
experience is like GOLD
IN YOUR LIFE!
Our main course was a Mediterranean Chicken Parcel with a salad of baby tomatoes and baby marrows. Dessert was an Amarula Creme Brulee with a fresh fruit skewer. A perfect ladies' lunch.
What some ladies get up
to on our outings.
Maureen stole herself
away from the madding
crowds with a good book
and never even looked up
when the photographer
was busy. Laura and
Heather viewed the
honeymoon suite and
decided to 'dress the
part' - caught in the
act - girls!!
Part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like
and let the food fight it out inside. ~Mark Twain
